SOURCE: TANJUG belgrade, jan. 15 (tanjug)- opposition democratic party of serbia (dss) leader vojislav kostunica said wednesday that the latest decisions of the belgrade and nis city election commissions were close to the actual results of the latest local elections in serbia. kostunica told a news conference that the 'recognition of the actual results of the second round of local elections on nov. 17' should be followed by 'a binding accord between the authorities and the opposition.' he said the accord should imply political relations based on respect for legal norms and their application in the work of law-making bodies, the activities of political parties, and the work of the media. the dss leader told the press that programmatic differences between his party and the opposition coalition zajedno had become greater since the latest local elections in serbia. kostunica said his party had only technically joined for the elections the zajedno coalition, which comprises the serbian renewal movement (spo), democratic party (ds), and civic alliance of serbia (gss). the dss leader observed that zajedno was on the way of becoming a single political party. he noted that his own party was trying to preserve its 'national and democratic' political orientation and would participate in the next elections independently as a party whose place on the political stage was between zajedno and the serbian radical party (srs). 'this does not of course mean that the party (dss) is in any way abandoning or forsaking obligations stemming from its participation in the federal and local elections as part of the zajedno coalition,' kostunica said.
