The founding session of the Student Parliament was held in

INDEPENDENT ASSOCIATION OF STUDENTS DENOUNCE STUDENT PARLIAMENT

The pro-government student organization said on Monday that they
could not support Student Protest 96/97 or with the Student
Parliament that had grown out of that protest because ``it
  35 represented a minority view.''

``Student complaints should be solved through state institutions
and not on the streets,'' the President of the Union of Students
Nikola Vukinic said. The Independent Association has sent an open
letter to the Serbian Prime Minister requesting an urgent meeting
40 to discuss the status and work of Belgrade students.

      NEW PANEL DISCUSSION

The sixth panel discussion in the Serbian parliament is to be held
on Tuesday. The topic for this session will be the ``role of the
media in the electoral process.'' The session is due to begin at 8
45 p.m. and will be broadcast live on state-owned Radio Television
      Serbia.

SECOND DRAFT OF NEW INFORMATION LAW

On Monday, Serbian Minister for Information Radmila Milentijevic
told state-owned Radio Belgrade that the second draft of the Law
50 on Information would be made public by the end of the week. The
final version of the law is expected to be ready by the end of
April, when it will be handed over to parliament for adoption,
      stated Mrs. Milentijevic.

      SPO ATTACKS NASA BORBA

55 The opposition Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) on Monday condemened
independent newspaper Nasa Borba for ``breaking the rules of an
objective report writing,'' BETA reported. The SPO claims that
Nasa Borba had deliberatly mis-quoted reports on the candidacy of
Vuk Draskovic for the Serbian President. The SPO stated that Nasa
60 Borba had disguised the ``clear message that the SPO believed the
Zajedno coalition should boycott the elections and call further
protests should the regime reject demands for round table
      discussion with the opposition.''

      SESELJ TO STAND FOR PRESIDENT

65 President of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) will stand for

SERB REPRESENTATIVES PREPARE FOR KOSOVO NEGOTIATIONS

70 On Monday President of Serb Resistance Movement of Kosovo Momcilo
Trajkovic stated that he expected both the governing Socialists
and the opposition to form a unified position in preparation for
New York negotiations with Albanians, BETA reported.

``A common position is necessary if we are to avoid looking like a
75 rabble of cats and dogs who fight each other. That common view
must reflect the vital interests of the Serbs, rather than the
partisan politics interests of one single political parties,'' Mr.
      Trajkovic stressed.

      DJINDJIC IN STOCKHOLM

80 Belgrade Mayor Zoran Djindjic travelled on Monday to Sweden for a

  85 WORD OF DAY

Yugoslav film director Slobodan Sijan: ``Only when you look at all
those faces of state officials can you fully comprehend how hard
actors rehearse in order to imitate their stupidity. Politicians
are the only good models for comedy.''
