FIVE HUNDRED WORKERS DEMAND RELEASE OF GAOLED UNIONISTS

About 500 workers at the Popovac cement works near Paracin

30 Tuesday evening after they had announced they would, together with
other workers, block the Nis-Belgrade motorway near Paracin in
protest at the Serbian Government's introduction of enforced
management in their factory. Radio B92 learned on Wednesdsay that
the Tuesday police intervention came after a clash among the
35 workers themselves and that those arrested had been charged with
misdemeanours. The cement works went on strike on Tuesday because
of the attempt by the Serbian Government to introduce enforced

A car belonging to President Tudjman's party in Hungary was stolen
