    ZAJEDNO: CITY TELEVISION OF NIS WILL NOT BE A MOUTHPIECE FOR NEW
    CITY COUNCIL

    The opposition coalition Zajedno announced on Wednesday that the
    city television of Nis would no longer be under the complete
    control of the Nis City Council as was the case during the
    previous local government's term of office. Zajedno suggested that
    the Nis city television company should seek private investors to
    give them financial independence and thus prevent the city council
    from using it as a mouthpiece.


    REPRESENTATIVES OF US EMBASSY IN NOVI PAZAR

    Representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, Second Political
    Tina Koydinov and political advisor Mirko Gaspari had talks top
    officials from the Novi Pazar city council on Tuesday. The Novi
    Pazar local goverment officials told them of unsatisfactory of the
    newly appointed city council by central government. They also
    complained of a take-over at the local radio station by centrally
    controlled Radio Television Serbia. The station had been founded
    and managed previously by the Novi Pazar City Council. The US
    Embassy representatives also had talks with leader of the Muslim
    Council of Sandzak (MNVS), Sulejman Ugljanin, who demanded aid
    accomplish a final solution regarding the status of the Sandzak
    region and its Muslim residents.


    POPE TO VISIT SARAJEVO IN APRIL

    Pope John Paul II intends to accept an invitation from the
    collective of Bosnia Hezegovina and visit Sarajevo in April,
    stated a for Bosnian Catholic Cardinal Vinko Puljic on Wednesday.
    The Pope postponed his visit, planned for September 1994, after
    the Bosnian Serbs claimed they could not guarantee his safety.


    TUDJMAN ADDRESSES NATION

    Croat President Franjo Tudjman called on all Serbs in Eastern
    Slavonia to in the March local elections and rejected all demands
    by the which he sees as urging the formation of a new political
    alliance of Balkan countries, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
    Reuters recollects that the European Union made development of
    mutual economic and political co-operation a condition of entry
    for all ex-communist countries. This may be interpreted by Croatia
    as an attempt to the old Yugoslav federation.


    HAJRI BACK TO WORK

    Spokesman for the President of Bosnia Herzegovina, Mirza Hajri,
    stated on that Mr Izetbegovic had returned to his presidential
    duties a 5-day stay in hospital for medical check-ups, Reuters
    reports. Doctor Enver Raljevi from the Clinic for Cardiovascular
    Diseases Kocevo told Reuters that Mr Izetbegovic's health is good
    after the attack he suffered a year ago.


    POLICE ACADEMY PRESENTS UOFB STUDENTS WITH MANUAL

    Radio B92 received a note from the Police Academy in Belgrade on
    Wednesday. The note informed us that the Police Academy will
    present the management of Student Protest 96/97 with two books:
    ``Police and Rights and Obligations, A Manual for Easy and
    Communication Between Citizens And The Police'' and ``Manual.''
    The note also said that several copies of the books be handed out
    to the commanders of the riot police cordons in Street. The
    manuals, which are used for teaching in the Police are to being
    distributed by the academy's chief, Dragoljub Tatomirovic, former
    head of the Serbian Interior Ministry, to show support for the
    students' protest and to combat bootlegging and fraud.
