TELEGRAM OF MIRA MARKOVIC REGARDING THE DEATH OF DENG XIAOPING

The head of the Yugoslav Left and wife of Serbian President
Slobodan Milosevic, Mira Markovic, on Thursday sent a condolence
telegram to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China
upon the death of Deng Xiaoping, FoNet reports. The telegram read:
``Dear comrades, on behalf of the Yugoslav Left and myself, I
express my condolences regarding death of comrade Deng Xiaoping.
Deng will remain in our memory as a man of great wisdom and
visionary views. A man whose life saw great changes in China, from
feudalism to laser beams, computers and satellites, from economic
dependency to a powerful economy, respected by the western world.
A man who wisely directed Chinese future and showed the people
that Chinese socialism does not mean poverty, rather the chance of
full personal affirmation and rich life. Deng's departure is a
great loss for the Chinese people, and not only the Chinese, and
we hope that the people of China will accept the invitation of the
Communist Party of China to turn the sorrow into power and
continue Deng's deeds, and preserve the unity of Communist Party
    of China.''

    COUNCIL OF DEANS

The Council of Deans and members of the Teaching Council of the
University of Belgrade considered that the first demand of the
Student Protest, which was the recognition of the electoral
results according to the true will of the voters, was met by the
adoption of the special law (lex specialis). However the council
thought that the demand for the replacement of the University
Chancellor and the Student pro-rector had not yet been met, which
was the reason for another delay in the restarting of lectures at
the University. The Council of Deans insists that the University
Chancellor should resign without any further delay.

CROATIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: NO OBSTACLES TO PEACEFUL RE-INTEGRATION

Croatian Foreign Minister, Mate Granic, on Thursday stated that
``nothing stands in the way of the peaceful re-integration of
Eastern Slavonia into Croatia,'' reports Croatian daily 'Vjesnik',
``the arrival of new refugees to Yugoslavia would be the worst
solution. There are no burning questions any more.'' The paper
also said that Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and the Croatian
government had met all reasonable and sensible demands of the
    Serbs from Eastern Slavonia.
