FR YUGOSLAVIA CLOSES BORDER WITH ALBANIA
Responding to escalating violence in Albania, the Yugoslav Supreme
Council of Defence have decided to close all borders with Albania
until further notice. Yugoslav President Zoran Lilic chaired the
Council session on Thursday where members of the Council also
decided to put the Yugoslav Army and police forces on full alert
in the border regions.
Montenegrin President Momir Bulatovic expressed grave concern at
the civil unrest in Albania, BETA reported.
MILO DJUKANOVIC IN WASHINGTON
Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic told reporters on
Thursday in Washington that Montenegro ``took its equality in the
Yugoslav Federation very seriously,'' FoNet reported.
Mr. Djukanovic stressed that Montenegro had its own strategy of
development which included serious political and economic reform.
Mr. Djukanovic added that Montenegro would try to do this within
the Federation, but if this was not possible would exercise its
constitutional right to protect its own interests.
Mr. Djukanovic also said that Montenegro also had the
constitutional option to exit the Federation by calling a
referendum.
MILUTINOVIC PROPOSES TO MEET ZAJEDNO LEADERS AND OSCE IN
COPENHAGEN ON MARCH 15
Yugoslav Foreign Minister Milan Milutinovic has reportedly offered
to meet OSCE Chairman-in-Office Niels Helveg Petersen and Zajedno
leader in Copenhagen on March 15, FoNet reported on Thursady.
Mr. Petersen had previously scheduled the dialogue between Serbian
authorities and the opposition for March 17 but Mr. Milutinovic
said he was too busy and would not be able to visit Copenhagan
until the end of March.
The OSCE said that the meeting was urgent and that it was vital to
hold it before the meeting of the next EU Council on March 24.
BULATOVIC AND KRAJISNIK ON AGREEMENT BETWEEN FR YUGOSLAVIA AND RS
Montenegrin President Momir Bulatovic and member of the Presidency
of Bosnia and Herzegovina Momcilo Krajisnik met on Thursday in
Podgorica to discuss various aspects of the Agreement on Special
Relations between the FR Yugoslavia and ``Republika Srpska'' (Serb
entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina), FoNet reported.
``We give this document the highest importance, and we believe
that it must be further implemented,'' Mr. Bulatovic told
journalists after the meeting.
Mr. Krajisnik confirmed Republika Srpska's determination to carry
through the Agreement on Special Relations, and said that he
expected it to be ratified soon.
