    SESELJ CONDEMNS DRAFT MEDIA LAW

    Leader of the Serbian Radical Party Vojislav Seselj labelled the
    controversial draft law on media reform ``anti-democratic'' in a
    public statement on Thursday. Mr. Seselj said the law would
    provide unequal conditions for state and private media and would
    further increase the state's media monopoly. Mr. Seselj concluded
    that Serbia's current media law was acceptable but the problem was
    it was not implemented, FoNet reported on Thursday.


    NOVI SAD STUDENTS PROTEST RTS CRACKDOWN ON BK TELEVISION

    Novi Sad Univeristy students on Thursday invited all ``endangered
    viewers of BK Television's news bulletins'' to march with them on
    March 15. State-owned Radio Television Serbia has threatened to
    cut the regional transmitters of BK in what BK have called a new
    wave of media repression.

    The students intend to walk to the Misuluk transmitter that serves
    Novi Sad in an act of solidarity for BK TV. The Misulak
    transmitter is one of several that will be effected by the RTS
    decision.


    PRIVATE MEDIA OWNERS TO FOUND NEW ASSOCIATION

    In an attempt to fend off what they call the government's attack
    on private media 'Dnevni Telegraf' propriator Slavko Curuvija on
    Thursday said he and fellow media moguls were to found a new
    association of private newspaper publishers. Current members of
    the Association are 'Nasa Borba', 'Blic', 'Gradjanin' and 'Dnevni
    Telegraf'.

    ``We have decided to unite in opposition to the amateur ideas of
    new Information Minister (Radmila) Milentijevic,'' Mr. Curuvija
    said referring to her draft law on media.
