    INTERNATIONAL JOURNALISTS APPEAL TO MILOSEVIC

Reporters Sans Frontiers, the international organisation for the
defense of free media, on Wednesday called on Serbian President
Slobodan Milosevic to abandon the draft Law on Information. The
journalists stressed that the apparent anti-monopoly provisions of
the law applied only to private media and expressed grave concern
over the repressive nature of the bill.

The Independent Association of Serbian Journalists on Wednesday
also described the bill as repressive and rejected it as a basis
for media regulation. The association proposed a round table on
the media to involve political parties, public organisations,
media professionals, trade unions and anyone involved in the
    promulgation of information.

    DEBATE ON INFORMATION BILL

All parties represented in the Serbian Parliament have been
summoned to a panel discussion on the Information Bill. The
Parliament Information Service said on Wednesday that the
discussion will begin at 8.00 pm on Thursday.

    DJINDJIC IN GERMANY

Belgrade Mayor Zoran Djindjic met German Foreign Minister Klaus
Kinkel in Bonn on Wednesday. Mr Kinkel told a media conference
after the meeting that the civic protest in Serbia had made a
strong impression on Germany and Europe, and had demonstrated that
Serbs were determined to have democracy. He added that Germany
would support these ambitions and assist Serbia and Montenegro to
    find their place in Europe.

    SERBS AND ALBANIANS TO MEET

The Kosovo Human Rights Committee on Wednesday confirmed that the
round table on relations between Serbs and Albanians would be held
from March 21 to 23 in Brezovica. The talks will be attended by
non-government organisations and individuals who had demonstrated
flexibility in dealing with the problem of Kosovo.
