VESNA PESIC PROPSES AMENDMENTS FOR SPECIAL LAW
President of the Civil Alliance of Serbia, a member party of the
Zajedno coalition, and member of the Republican Parliament, Vesna
Pesic, has prepared amendments to the Proposal of the law on
declaring temporary electoral results as final, stated her party
spokesman on Friday. Pesic will demand that another two
constituencies are added to the new law.
ARMY WILL NOT INTERFERE
Student Protesters from the University of Nis on Friday talked to
Colonel Velimir Jovanovic, Head of the Third Section of the
Yugoslav Army. The Colonel told the students that the Army would
not interfere in the current political events in the country. He
also admitted that the army intervention in March 9,1991 ``had
been a big mistake'' which would not be repeated. He emphasized
that the army would not enter into the political struggle in the
country, but it would not allow the breakout of civil war, report
the Information Service of the Student Protest.
AID TO INDEPENDENT TRADE UNIONS IN SERBIA
The European Confederation of Trade Unions will actively support
the independent trade union movement in Serbia, stated Emilio
Gabaglio, General Secretary of the Confederation, FoNet reports.
The Confederation will mobilize international solidarity, educate
staff, help media development, and support Serbian re-integration
into the international community.
BABURIN'S OPINION ON LATEST EVENTS IN SERBIA
Vice-President of the Russian Parliament, Sergei Baburin, Head of
the delegation which visited Belgrade in January, on Friday
criticized the attitude of the leaders of the Zajedno coalition,
FoNet reports. Baburin said that he was unpleasantly surprised to
see that the Serbian opposition had refused to start a dialogue
with the authorities.
GERMAN NEWSPAPER: WEST SHOULD TURN FROM BALKAN DESPOTS
The West must turn its back on Milosevic, Tudjman and ``other
Balkan despots'' says the German newspaper ``Zeit.''It commented
that the Croatian President Tudjman is as uninterested in
establishing real democracy as Milosevic, and that Milosevic will
have to make more concessions in order to end the crisis in an
article on Friday.
MEETING ON EDUCATION SYSTEM IN KOSOVO
Kosovian daily in Albanian 'Bujku' says that a group consisting of
3 Albanian and 3 Serbian experts on education had a talk on
Wednesday in Belgrade. They agreed that the number of ethnic
Albanians attending educational institutions in Kosovo should be
established in the next ten days. Representative of the Kosovian
Albanians, Abdul Rama, stated that the group talked about all
levels of education in Kosovo. He added that the next meeting will
be held in Pristina, soon.
