PRISTINA BOMB INJURES TWO
A powerful explosive device exploded near the School of Philosophy
of Pristina University on Wednesday at 10:40 am. Two people were
injured. A Pristina Hospital spokesman told Radio Pristina that
neither was in a critical condition. The explosive device was set
in a refuse container, shards of which were hurled through a
radius of 100 square meters. Windows were shattered on the
buildings in the area.
REFUGEES ``BETTER OFF'' AT PALIC
The Serbian Minister for Family Care, Bratislava Morina, told the
Belgrade daily 'Blic' on Wednesday that refugees accommodated at
the Belgrade Hotel Prague had been offered accomodation in high-
class hotels in the inlands.
The Prague houses 43 refugees, 31 of them seriously disabled.
These include children suffering from cerebral palsy, leukemia and
other serious diseases demanding special medical care. They have
not been evacuated from the hotel, but they have been denied food
and had the electricity in their rooms cut.
WHEAT IMPORTS
Milenko Milivojevic, General Manager of the Novi Sad harbour, told
Beta on Wednesday that 40,000 tons of imported wheat had reached
the port between December 1996 and February 1997, and that an
additional 100,000 tons was expected to arrive in March.
According to Mr. Milivojevic, one of the importing companies is
'Dibek', which is owned by the newly-appointed Serbian Minister
for Privatization, Milan Beko. The company had taken over 5,000
tons from shipments received so far, and would take more than
30,000 tons of the next.
UNIONS DEMAND VOICE IN PRIVATISATION
The trade unions of the Telecommunications Company of Serbia,
Power Industry and Petrol Industry of Serbia demanded on Wednesday
that the Serbian Government and parliament allow their
representatives to participate in the drafting of the law on
privatization which is expected to be tabled in the parliament in
the near future.
The unions have demanded that the employees be protected against
sackings and that their ownership and management rights be
defined.
SERBS BEFORE HAGUE TRIBUNAL
Four indicted Bosnians will appear before the Hague War Crimes
Tribunal on Monday for crimes against Serb civilians in central
Bosnia. Zejnil Delalic, Zdravko Mucic, Hazim Delic and Esad
Lanzco, all members of the Serb military forces, have been
indicted for illegal arrests, killings, tortures, rapes, and
inhumane treatment of Serbs detained in the Celebici camp during
1992.
