      RS SECESSION IMPOSSIBLE

There can be no question of either political or economic secession
25 of Republika from Bosnia Herzegovina, said Colum Murphy, spokesman
for the UN High Commissioner for Bosnia on Monday. Mr Murphy said
that the recent pact between RS and Yugoslavia did not technically
breach the Dayton accords, but that its provisions on customs
regulations would jepoardise the passing of economic laws which
30 were a prerequisite for the planned donor's conference.

He added that neither the agreement with Yugoslavia nor the tying
of the RS economy to the Yugoslav dinar was in the interests of
Republika Srpska as this would mean sinking together with the sick
man of Europe. Mr Murphy also warned that the customs agreement
35 would also diminish Yugoslavia's chances of being granted trade
      concessions by Europe.

      NINE GREEN BOTTLES...

The Montenegrin branch of the Radical Party lost another member on
Tuesday. Vice-president Aleksandar Stamatovic resigned from both
40 his office and his party membership. He gave the same reason as
had the former president, Acim Visnjic: Radical leader Vojislav
Seselj support of Montenegrin President Momir Bulatovic and the
consequent connection with the regime of Serbian President
      Slobodan Milosevic.

  45 POLITIKA ``PERSECUTING JOURNALISTS''

The trade union representing journalists at the pro-government
daily Politika on Tuesday warned that the persecution of
journalists at the paper was becoming critical. The statement
referred to the reduction of salaries for a group of journalists
50 who had protested at editorial policy on recent political
developments in Serbia. The incident follows the sacking of
Biserka Matic, a highly respected journalist with years of
experience and the suspension of Ivan Stojkovic.

      SACKED RTS EDITOR REINSTATED

55 The Novi Sad Municipal Court has overturned a decision by the
Managing Board of Radio Television Serbia to replace the Editor in
Chief of Novi Sad information current affairs programs. The court
ruling said that the sacking was unlawful.

      TURKS IN SARAJEVO

60 Between three and four hundred Turkish citizens are currently in
Sarajevo according to local daily Svijet. The report says that the
Kurds arrived legally with the necessary papers as tourist. The
daily reports that information from the Bosnian Interior for the
Ministry clearly confirmed that this was a case of organised
65 illegal immigration of Kurds into Western European country.

      BOSNIAN REPATRIATIONS

A group of 31 Bosnian children was returned to Sarajevo on Tuesday
from Germany where they had spent the last five years. The
children, aged between five and twelve were returned to the same
70 orphanage from which they had been taken in 1992.

      UNTAES REACTS TO VUKOVAR ATTACK

The UN Transitional Administration for Eastern Slavonia stated on
Tuesday that it would bolster security measures in the region in
the lead up to the April 13 local elections. The added precautions
75 follow an incident on Monday when representatives of the ruling
Croat Democratic Union were pelted with eggs and stones.

MUSLIMS BLOCK SERB AND CROAT REPATRIATIONS

A spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Mons
Nieberg, on Tuesday expressed grave concern over the refusal of
80 Sarajevo authorities to allow Serbs and Croats to move back into
their restored flats in Sarajevo. He said that this ran counter to
earlier statements of the authorities that Sarajevo was a
multiethnic city and minorities would be allowed to return.
