"Milosevic is here to stay one way or another" The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Lord Russel-Johnston, accused "dictator Slobodan Milosevic" today in Strasbourg of having rigged the elections.
"Let us not deceive ourselves. Dictators have never stepped down from power after the elections. Unfortunately, this is the most probable option, even after these elections, Milosevic is here to stay one way or another", said Russel-Johnston.
He estimated that the elections had been rigged even before the voting took place because of the absence of the international observers, "regime's aggressive propaganda" and "constant and intensifying physical abuse" of the opposition activists and supporters.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is in extraordinary session today discussing the Yugoslav elections.
