Opposition to celebrate victory in Belgrade tonight BELGRADE, Monday -- The Democratic Opposition of Serbia and G17 Plus have announced a celebration in Belgrade's central Republic Square at 8.00 p.m. tonight to celebrate the victory of Vojislav Kostunica in yesterday's presidential elections. G17 Plus director Mladjen Dinkic said that people would also have an opportunity greet the Belgrade mayor-elect, Milan St Protic. Dinkic announced a program including several political speakers and entertainment by several popular musicians and bands.
Opposition leaders have called on Serbs to celebrate the election victory on town squares throughout the republic. "I call on Serbian citizens to come to the squares tonight with dignity to celebrate victory," said Democratic Serbia Movement leader Momcilo Perisic. Perisic also said that the regime would attempt to overturn the election results with numerous machinations but that they would not succeed.
