Britain, Bulgaria and Romania call on Milosevic to cede power LONDON, BUCHAREST, SOFIA, Thursday - Britain today called on Slobodan Milosevic to cede power, saying that he had lost the presidential election and had manipulated the votes in order to overturn the victory of opposition candidate Vojislav Kostunica. The British Foreign Ministry supported the demand of Vojislav Kostunica for a comparison of opposition and Election Commission versions of the results.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Ivan Kostov and his Romanian counterpart Mugur Isaresceau also called on Milosevic to admit defeat at the presidential elections and to respect the Serbian people's will for change. The two prime ministers greeted what they described as the glorious success of Vojislav Kostunica and the people's readiness for democratic change.
