On October 14, one year long pilot programme of Peace Studies started in Zagreb.
After announcenments in croatian newspapers (Feral, Tjednik, Zaposlena, Novi list and Vjesnik) more than 170 interested people called or visited office of ARK - (CMS is member of Antiwar Campaign Croatia network). Around one third of calls has come from other parts of Croatia. Instead of group of 20 - 30 participants, CMS has decided to accept 46 applications and carry out parallel program for two groups.
Average age of students is 27 yrs, 29 female and 17 male participants.

Programme will go twice a week throughout a period October 97 - June 98. More than 300 hrs of workshops, lectures, discussions and video presentations is planned to be realized covering following topics:

UNDERSTANDING OF VIOLENCE * NON-VIOLENCE * CONFLICT MANAGEMENT *
TECHNOLOGY AND COMUNICATION * HUMAN RIGHTS * CIVIL SOCIETY *
CIVIL POLITICS * PEACE BUILDING * WOMEN CULTURE OF RESISTANCE

Although lecturers/workshop leaders of this core programme come from the Antiwar Campaign Croatia network , more topics and guests are planned as part of additional programme open to public.

Peace Studies pilot programme of CMS does not pretend to cover all complex issue of war, peace and social justice. As an attempt of active bridging among activism and academism , we stress the need for similar (and different, too) programmes in the same field.

We wish to say: Thank you ! to everyone who supported us through these years and made beginning of the first Peace Studies programme in Croatia possible.
