Prisoners on hunger strike will be transferred to Lipljan

Prisoners who have been on a hunger strike in the Kosovska Mitrovica prison since Sept.13, will, for health reasons, soon be transferred to Lipljan where conditions exist for providing adequate medical care, BETA learned from a representative of the Serb National Council (SNV).

The spokesman for the SNV office in Kosovska Mitrovica district, Nikola Kabasic, said that 13 prisoners, including 11 Serbs, one Macedonian and one Albanian, were on a hunger strike because "they believe that they have been arrested for political reasons and only for being of Serb nationality."

Serb sources in Kosovska Mitrovica claim that those persons had been arrested "mainly on grounds of Kosovo Albanians' anonymous denunciations."
