High-level talks rumored?

8th June 1999

Yugoslav, Russian and some Western media reported that talks between Yugoslav and NATO officials continued. According to unconfirmed Western sources, Tuesday afternoon Yugoslav military stuff officers met NATO General Michael Jackson. Russian agency ITAR-TASS reported that Yugoslav Deputy Foreign Minister Nebojsa Vujovic met NATO officials, and Yugoslav news agency Tanjug reported that alliance and Serb military officials had met and made progress on a Serb pullout from Kosovo. But NATO spokesman at Skopje, Macedonia, Lt Cmdr Dirk Verdonck, said that there have been no talks on the Military-Technical Agreement. He added that he was unaware of any timetable for resuming discussions.
