WWF ALERT: Help prevent another ocean disaster
Our oceans urgently need your help:
Sign our online petition today.Off the Galician coast in Spain marine life is in peril. The large oil slicks seeping from the sunken tanker, Prestige, have also put the livelihoods of more than 30,000 people at risk. Fisheries may not recover for 10 years and the environment could be affected for up to 30 years!
WWF is urging governments to put in place increased protection for the most sensitive areas of our oceans to try to prevent future disasters. We'll let you know if your help is needed and keep you up to date with progress on preventing future spills.
There's another disaster that you can help prevent.
Almost 70% of Europe's fish stocks are over-fished. Across Europe fishing industries are going under, jobs are being lost and coastal communities are in serious decline.
You can help stop the over-fishing madness that's causing the devastation. European Union fisheries ministers meet in mid-December to decide on reform of the Common Fisheries Policy. This is the first review of this failed policy in 10 years so it's really important we take action now.
This is your last chance to act. Please have your say; sign WWF's petition to tell politicians to act: Stop Over-fishing - NOW!
More than 16,000 people have already signed the petition and by adding your name and forwarding this email to your friends you'll make the message even stronger;
STOP OVER FISHING OR FISHING WILL BE OVER.
Thank you on behalf of our fisheries and oceans
