At the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED, Rio de Janeiro, june 1992) worldleaders agreed upon 'Agenda 21', an agenda for the 21st century aiming at sustainable development worldwide. At the 'Earth Summit+5' (New York, june 1997) implementation was reviewed. Next was 'Johannesburg' in 2002.
